Embedded Software Engineer

Are you a creative DSP superstar who enjoys tackling new problems?  We are looking for top engineers to develop the next generation of human interface devices.

The Embedded Software Engineer will develop embedded systems software using understanding of real-time embedded systems, concurrency, interrupt handling, and device drivers.  The ideal candidate will be proficient in C programming, have object-oriented programming experience (Java, C++, or C#), have microcontroller experience, and be able to work independently.  Experience with device drivers in a Linux environment is desired.

The Embedded Software Engineer will be a generalist, working on a variety of assignments with an interest and focus at the lower layers of software.   A solid computer science foundation is a must as is demonstrated proficiency with real-time software concepts and optimizing software speed and memory to fit onto low-cost microprocessors.  Successful candidates will demonstrate the flexibility and ability to “get things done”.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software through its full life cycle (architecture, design, implementation, and test)
  • Tool-chain development (embedded development environment and cross-compilers for ARM7, ARM9, MIPS and Cortex M3)
  • Device driver implementation for Linux
  • Work closely with hardware team members for hardware/software system design

Education

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant experience
  • MS CS or MS EE is desired

Skills

  • Proven C programming skills (complex and demanding designs)
  • Experience with object oriented programming (C#, C++, or Java)
  • Real-time embedded systems (interrupts, tasking, concurrency)
  • Device driver design and implementation
  • Knowledge and understanding of algorithms (sorting, parsing, scheduling, etc.), data structures, concurrency
  • System test development using Java(Eclipse) and C++ (Visual Studio 2010)
  • Mature, self-motivated and able to work well in a group environment
  • Works independently

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with real-time algorithms and data structures
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with real-time embedded systems (interrupts, tasking, concurrency)

Desirable Qualifications

  • DSP experience
  • Real-time operating systems (VxWorks, pSOS, Linux variants) experience
  • USB or Bluetooth HID driver experience
  • Familiarity with design processes and tools
  • Experience in consumer electronics industry (e.g. software on embedded devices, set top boxes, CE devices)
  • Linux device driver experience
  • Understanding of communications concepts and protocols
